Neptune’s Waters

This week in the skies many celestial bodies align to create a special cosmic doorway. But the most unique participant in this alignment, is without doubt Neptune, lord of the seas.

The Sun, Mercury, Venus and Neptune are all in alignment, meaning that in the skies the three planets would seem close to the Sun if we could take a look at them, which we can’t for two reasons. The first is that this conjunction takes place in proximity to the Sun, so we can’t see it. And the second is that even if we could look in the direction of the Sun, Neptune would be too far away and distant to see with the naked eye. In actuality these four celestial bodies are aligned one after the other, some good light minutes apart, Neptune, of-course, being  the furthest. And yet – this special alignment does create an energetic doorway that we can feel, sense, and walk through…

The Sun and Mercury are the two logical ingredients in the astrological chart. The Sun represents our consciousness and Mercury – our logic. Venus and Neptune are the sensitive and  intuitive players in the skies and in our lives.

This unique meeting between logic and intuition allows us to unite two parts of us which are usually separate or contradictory. There is a mixture between logic and inspiration, facts and intuition. The two hemispheres of the brain can work better together due to this conjunction. But there is even more to that – since the Lord of the Seas seems to awaken for a short while during these days, and this makes us want to know more about Neptune and his influence.

The Sun, Mercury and Venus move quite quickly  in the skies (as we see it from Earth). They move from one astrological realm to the other every month or so. But Neptune, because of his huge distance from the Sun, and from us,  has a very slow journey in the skies, and  seems to move from one astrological realm to the other only every 14 years (!). This means that in  the weekly forecast Neptune would almost be a dormant part, something that stays fixed for years. And he only “awakens” when other celestial bodies pass in-front of him and strum his watery chords.

Neptune, also known as Poseidon (in Greek) is the mythological God of the Sea, Ruler of the Waves, the Nymphs and Sirens.

Neptune is one of the three brothers – Jupiter (Zeus), Pluto (Hades) and Neptune (Poseidon). Jupiter is the ruler of the Earth and Skies, Pluto – of the Underworld, and Neptune of the mystical place in between – the Oceans.

For the Ancient Ones, the ocean was the passage between the safe land and the After-World. The Oceans being that fascinating yet frightening place where the usual laws do not work – thing are slower, more meditative, more conductive –and of course- under water.

The oceans, the water and Neptune as their lord, are an analogue to this special place which is neither reality nor imagination – it is the place where inspiration and intuition reside, where connections can be made with the transcendental world.

During this time of conjunction of the Sun, Mercury, Venus and Neptune a special doorway opens for us to these mystical realms. Our intuition is enhanced, we may be filled with inspiration, have vivid dreams and travel on the flying carpet of imagination which sometimes becomes real…

Yet – we should be aware of Neptune’s traps as well, as these imaginary worlds can be sometimes too fascinating and too alluring, making us a bit confused and sometimes causing us to drift away from our chosen path, just as the Sirens lured the sailors with their song to jump into the sea…

But if we know how not to let confusion take hold of us, we can enjoy this wonderful inspirational week with all its magic…
